Marine fuel and lubricant trading firm Glander International Bunkering has made three internal promotions in its Dubai office: former sales manager Morten Langthjem will take on a new role as managing director; Alex Margaritis, former team leader and senior bnker/lubricant trader, will take over Langthjem’s former position as sales manager; and Hernan Ortiz will be appointed to a newly created role as business development manager.

“All three of the newly appointed candidates have played a critical role in guiding Glander International Bunkering DMCC through pivotal points in the office’s history,” said group CEO, Carsten Ladekjaer. “As the group continues to expand its relationships regionally and internationally, we require the correct leadership and expertise in place to help us navigate and continue to thrive in an ever-changing marketplace.”

Langthjem joined the company in 2014 as sales manager, previously working as trading manager for a bunker supplier in Gibraltar. He has 25 years’ experience in the shipping and bunkering industry, gaining experience from living and working in various locations in; Denmark, Piraeus, Gibraltar and the UAE.

Margaritis has been with the company for seven years, working in his role as team leader and senior bunker/lubricant trader. He joined the company in 2011 and his progression through the group to sales manager is the next challenge in his career. His experience spans over 12 years, with his skillset having been developed across Singapore, Greece and UAE.

Ortiz will move into the role of business development manager after eight years trading for the company. He has over 27 years’ experience in the industry and a portfolio of varying roles, ranging from ship owner, agent, physical supplier, trader and broker.
