New Generation Heavy Lift Ship Targets Yacht Market

Fort Lauderdale based Yacht Path Marine Group recently arrived into Port Everglades with a cargo of precious Superyachts. The heavy lift cargo vessel M/V HHL Tokyo initiated loading operations in Victoria, BC, and then proceeded to Mexico and Costa Rica loading over 13 yachts, of which 5 were over 100 ft in length; the largest yacht onboard was 156’ Feadship M/Y “Strangelove” weighing over 350 tons.
"Just as every vessel is unique, the loading, transport, and unloading of each yacht is a custom operation, meticulously planned out by our diversely specialized crew”, stated Kevin Cummings the Director of Operations at Yacht Path. “Our team completed a flawless tandem lift of M/Y Strangelove utilizing the ship’s own cranes each with lifting capacity of 700 tons” said Cummings. “The whole process was professional, within all time frames, and well communicated throughout,” said Captain David Hoey of M/Y “Strangelove”. “We look forward to continued future work with Yacht Path, and highly recommend them as leaders in heavy lift yacht transportation.”
Over the past few years the yacht transportation industry has benefited from the recent ship building boom, which has consequently flooded the market with heavy lift ships, such as the HHL Tokyo, that are equipped with their own cranes with lifting capacity up to 1,400 tons. “Combining our expert loadmasters and specialized equipment with the talented crews and extreme lifting capacity of vessels such as HHL Tokyo, we are now able to safely lift yachts up to 200 ft and carry them across oceans to highly-desired and continuously expanding cruising destinations,” said Cummings. He further stated that “Transporting yachts onboard ships actually saves the owners money and wear and tear on mechanical systems.”
