Future Care, Yale School of Medicine to Host CMA Panel

Future Care Inc., a provider of healthcare management services to the maritime community, and Yale University Department of Occupational & Environmental Medicine will host a panel discussion: "Injury and Illness at Sea- New Developments in Emergency Response and Telemedicine."

This Seminar will be held at the Connecticut Maritime Association Exhibition in Stamford, Connecticut, at 3 p.m. EST on March 19, 2014, in the Charter Oak Seminar room. The distinguished panel of experts will discuss the growing prevalence of shipboard telemedical diagnosis and treatment and its effect on the immediate and long term health care of the international seafarer.

The panel discussion will kick off with remarks by Christina DeSimone, CEO of Future Care Inc. The panel discussion will featureMartin Slade, Lecturer & Director of Research of Yale Occupational & Environmental Medicine; Dr. Antonio Abaya, M.D., Medical Director of Health Metrics, Inc.; Captain Margaret Reasoner, Managing Director of Crowley Maritime Corporation; Martin Killian, Director of Managed Network Sales of Globecomm Maritime; and Vivian Andria, Director of International Division Operations, of Future Care, Inc.

Christina DeSimone, CEO of Future Care, Inc. commented, "Over the past 25 years Future Care has been dedicated to providing international shipboard telemedical diagnosis and treatment to our ship-owners, ship managers, and P&I clubs. In recent years, we have been putting more effort into seafarers' long-term health concerns. Among related subjects, the panel will discuss how technological innovation is improving the quality and delivery of telemedicine at sea and how Future Care and Yale University School of Medicine plan to monitor the impact of this expanding technology on the overall health of the international seafarer population.
