FURUNO ECDIS in Manila and Mumbai

May 30, 2012

FURUNO type specific ECDIS training now available in Mumbai, India and in Manila, the Philippines.

FURUNO has established training facilities in India and the Philippines through close cooperation with the newly established Moloobhoy Training Centre in Mumbai and COMPASS Training Centre in the Philippines. The two training centres have started to provide the 2-day FURUNO type specific ECDIS training course under the NavSkills umbrella having their instructors trained in Denmark and under the subsequent on-site training syllabus provided by FURUNO INS Training Centre in Denmark. This means that the two training centres offer the identical training to the training provided from FURUNO’s own training centres in Denmark and Singapore as well as other NavSkills training centres already established.

“It is a good step forward in providing type specific ECDIS training locally in Asia, and by adding these two major hubs to our training network we are able to service our good customers even better”, says Managing Director Mr. Yutaka Wada, head in charge of FURUNO’s training organisation. “We look forward to this new cooperation and we rest assure that our customers will experience many advantages out of it.”

A.S. Moloobhoy has for several years been FURUNO’s national distributor in India with offices in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and many other places in India. Moloobhoy has been servicing the maritime industry in India for more than hundred years and now established the first training centre in their headquarters in Mumbai. The training centre can accommodate up to six navigators per training course and they are providing the training on the real FURUNO equipment, which allows for a better familiarisation with the equipment. The FURUNO type specific ECDIS training course is approved by ClassNK.

COMPASS Training Centre is located in Manila and has been providing high quality training to the maritime industry for two years. COMPASS was carefully selected by FURUNO as a partner in the provision of type specific ECDIS training based on their vast experience as a training provider and their high standards in the training service, which fully met the criteria of FURUNO to become an accredited training provider. COMPASS has a wide range of training courses that they offer to the maritime industry and now COMPASS adds the FURUNO accredited type specific ECDIS training to the list.
