Fincantieri Educating UAE Students

The value of the initiative also recognized by the UAE government Trieste, 12 August 2015 - As part of a program of international cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, Fincantieri has done in recent weeks in Genoa, at the headquarters of CETENA - Center for the Study of Marine engineering, Group subsidiary Fincantieri, the training courses for students Higher Colleges of Technology and the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, Abu Dhabi both universities and the most prestigious of the whole area. The aim of the activity was to raise awareness of Italian excellence in the marine sector in its various aspects (military, cruise, megayacht) and increase our relationship with leading UAE universities that are opening up in recent years, the field naval.

The courses have a duration of 8 weeks, respectively (Higher Colleges of Technology) and six weeks (Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research). During this time the students were proposed lectures, workshops and guided tours.

The teachings, typical of the maritime sector, taught by the group Fincantieri and industry experts, were: "Introduction to naval architecture", "Project management", "Engineering", "construction and equipment". The visits took place during the two plants of the integrated military shipyard in Riva Trigoso and Muggiano. Were also organized trips at Group shipyards in Monfalcone, Marghera and Sestri, active in the construction of cruise ships, and at some sites of the University of Genoa.

This initiative confirms the training as a determining factor in the value chain for Fincantieri that, operating in a sector with a "knowledge-intensive", for years offered to its employees and not only training aimed to capitalize and develop its know-how, right assets of the company. In this particular project, which also received the approval of the government of the UAE, it will prove crucial to arouse in the young generations interest in Etihad Ship Building, a joint venture in late 2010 Fincantieri has set up with the yard of Al Fattan Abu Dhabi and is a natural logistics hub in the region.
