Federal Maritime Commission Chairman Meets D.G. of DMA

October 29, 2016

Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) in the USA, Mario Cordero, visited the Danish Maritime Authority today in connection with his participation in Danish Maritime Days.

The Chairman of the FMC paid a courtesy visit to Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority, Andreas Nordseth.

The FMC is the maritime competition authority of the USA and functions as an independent body after having been separated from the US Maritime Administration in the Ministry of Transport. The Commission is engaged in the approval of contracts concluded between shippers and shipowners and acts as a mediator in disputes, if relevant.

The informal dialogue at today's meeting was about issues such as free trade and shipping alliances.

Andreas Nordseth, the Danish Maritime Authority, ”By and large, we have a good working relationship with the American maritime authorities, including the FMC, so I am really pleased to be able to meet with Chairman Cordero here in Copenhagen. It was interesting to discuss maritime issues with him and hear his views on, inter alia, alliances in the shipping world."
