Durnan Appointed Senior Vice President at ISS

Maritime services provider Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) announced the appointment of Captain Michael Durnan, U.S. Navy (Retired) as Senior Vice President, Remote and Government Services. Reporting to Jan-Hein Dissel, COO of Supply Chain Solutions at ISS, he will head up an experienced business development and operations team based in Dubai.

Captain Durnan was commissioned as a Naval Officer in 1978 and spent his career serving on various U.S. Navy ships. His final at-sea posting was as the first Commanding Officer of USS Oak Hill which deployed to the Mediterranean theatre. Latterly, he worked in senior roles with both the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff and U.S. Naval Forces Europe. His final military role before retirement in 2007 was as U.S. Naval Attaché to France, where he was responsible for all U.S. Navy ship port visits in France and French territories globally. More recently, he has worked in senior positions as Vice President of Business Development Strategic Projects for Ecolog in Dubai and Vice President Europe for Agility Defense and Government Services in Switzerland.

Michael will be the key point of contact at ISS responsible for managing all U.S. Naval contracts and engagement. He will also be responsible for unifying all elements of the Remote and Government Services business group into one organization and will be focusing on strategically growing and developing a number of opportunities with government, non-government, international organizations and various military principals.

Commenting on his appointment, Claus Hyldager, Group CEO said, “Michael brings enormous experience of working at the most senior levels in both the U.S. Navy and in commerce. His insights, built through many years of dealing effectively with governments across Europe, North America and the Middle East, will be invaluable to ISS.”
