Maritime Security Executive Committee of the Office of H.H. the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and DMCA discuss marine driving license issuance services and MSS achievements.
Discussions aimed at strengthening joint cooperation in maritime sector development.
Officials from the Maritime Security Executive Committee of the Office of H.H. the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces recently visited the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, and analyze the Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy (MSS) and the marine driving license issuance services. The visit is in line with joint efforts to work closely to enhance maritime services which will ultimately promote the competitiveness and sustainability of Dubai’s maritime sector.
The joint meeting shed light on the developments in the implementation of Dubai’s Maritime Sector Strategy, especially in terms of ensuring compliance with the highest standards of maritime safety, the best environmental practices and the local and international resolutions related to maritime operations management. Both sides also discussed the achievements in implementing the regulations and the mechanisms of marine craft licensing, according to the resolution No. 11 of 2013 as part of the implementation of Law No 11 of 2010 for licensing of marine craft in the emirate of Dubai, in line with DMCA’s ongoing drive to develop a well-defined regulatory framework aimed at meeting the growing requirements of the local maritime industry and creating a vibrant and safe maritime environment.
The meeting highlighted DMCA’s services related to licensing of marine crafts and crew on various types of crafts. The attendees reviewed the positives results of implementing the licensing policy, especially in terms of enhancing competitiveness, operational performance, and productivity of the local maritime sector and maintaining secure navigation and the highest levels of maritime safety in Dubai. The meeting held in the presence of high-profile officials and managers from both sides, also discussed the required mechanisms to improve knowledge transfer and experience sharing in line with the joint efforts aimed at achieving a radical change across the local maritime industry based on the best international practices and the highest standards of maritime safety and environmental protection.
The meeting stressed on collaboration at all industry levels related to maritime affairs and urged the need to coordinate and promote joint initiatives to raise the bar on the maritime industry, which is an integral part of the UAE’s rich heritage and culture.
Attending the meeting were Mohammed Khamis Saeed Al Katbi, Amina Al Yamahi, Mohammed Ali Abdul Rahim and Salem Rashed Al Hasani from the Maritime Security Executive Committee of the Office of H.H. Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. DMCA officials participating in the event included Amer Ali, Ali Al Dabbous, Adel Kalantar and Nawfal Al Jourani
