Corvus Energy will provide newly-designed lithium-ion energy storage systems (ESS) for a hybrid rubber-tired gantry crane (RTG) designed by CCCC Shanghai Equipment Engineering (CCCCSEE). The new ESS solution from Corvus is a smaller, ultra high power, liquid cooled system designed specifically to meet the RTG power requirements more cost effectively.

Corvus Energy will provide newly-designed battery systems for a hybrid powered rubber-tired gantry crane (RTGs) that will be produced by integrator CCCCSEE for Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. (ZPMC), the world’s largest port crane manufacturer. The first order is destined for Shanghai International Port Group and will be installed in Yidong Terminal, Shanghai. This new system will join over a dozen other Corvus ESS powered hybrid RTGs at Yidong Terminal, making it Corvus’ largest port end-user. Unlike conventional diesel electric port cranes, the CCCCSEE hybrid RTG is powered primarily from the Corvus ESS resulting in fuel savings of up to 65% with the added benefits of reduced operating costs, less greenhouse gas emissions and lower noise levels at the terminal.

“This latest order from CCCCSEE for the Yidong Port, once again proves the viability of energy storage for the hybridization of industrial equipment such as port equipment. Our customers challenged us to come up with a product with even greater power density, allowing them to support aggressive load profiles with a smaller footprint and cost”, says Sean Puchalski, Vice President Strategic Marketing of Corvus Energy. “Corvus ESS technology continues to be the answer for progressive port operators worldwide, who seek to increase efficiencies while reducing emissions and the environmental impact of their operations.”

“CCCCSEE's continued commitment to the development and implementation of advanced technology solutions for port operations supports our corporate vision to be industry leaders through engineering excellence. Corvus technology is a cornerstone of this strategy and the proven performance, durability and reliability of its battery systems is ideally suited to the demands of our industrial applications.” said Gao Jianzhong, Chief Engineer, CCCCSEE
