MOL Comfort Loss: ClassNK Report Due Soon

Japanese ship classification society ClassNK says that in response to the casualty of containership “MOL COMFORT” which occurred on 17, June 2013, it established an 'Investigative Panel on Large Container Ship Safety', comprised of leading experts from shipbuilders, shipowners and academic institutions. The Panel was charged to carry out the following course of action:

(1) Investigate the possibility of casualty occurrence
(2) Consider and examine safety of large container ship structure

ClassNK explains that the Panel has met six times so far over the course of its investigation, and is currently consolidating its findings and observations into a report, which is scheduled to be released simultaneously in both English and Japanese on the ClassNK website at www.classnk.com by the end of September 2014.
