The U.S. Coast Guard Academy has again been recognized as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education.  According to U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2014 rankings, the academy is listed at #2 in the Regional Colleges North category.

CGA was also recognized in the Forbes magazine list of America’s Top Colleges, ranking in the top 20 of the Best Public Colleges list.  The magazine, partnering with the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, states the list was based on return on investment and answers to the question, “What are students getting out of college?”

The Princeton Review also features the academy in the new 2014 edition of its annual college guide, “The Best 378 Colleges.”  Only about 15% of the nation’s 2,500 four-year institutions are profiled in the publication, whose lists are based entirely on a survey of more than 100,000 college students.  As in previous years, the academy also featured prominently in that publication’s top 20 “Stone Cold Sober Schools” list.

In addition, the Academy claimed the #1 spot on the top ten list of small public colleges with the best graduation rates according to the Chronicle of Higher Education. The publication analyzed data provided to the U.S. Department of Education for first-time, full-time students who entered in the fall of 2009 and graduated within six years. With a graduation rate of 83.3%, CGA is the only school on the list with a graduation rate of 80% or higher.

As one of the smallest of the five federal service academies, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy  offers a quality higher education experience that emphasizes leadership, physical fitness and professional development. Cadets there devote themselves to an honor concept and go directly into positions of leadership in service to others.
