Claxton Engineering Services Ltd., an Acteon company, has appointed Nicholas Dale as business development manager for Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, where Claxton is establishing its latest operational facility, he will focus on increasing the company’s penetration into the area’s market. Dale is charged with tooling up, hiring staff and long-term business development planning.

Previously, Dale was general manager of Claxton Dubai, a role that involved turning a regional sales office into a fully operational, stand-alone Claxton base with a local workforce, equipment and established clients.

Dale also spent four years at 2H Offshore, another Acteon operating company, working on deepwater riser analysis; design and realization; and two years at Acteon Group Ltd. as a business analyst. There, his role included work on technology development; business efficiency development; mergers and acquisitions; and group company integration.

Dale holds a masters’ degree in aerospace engineering from The University of Hertfordshire, in England. He is a chartered engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and author of technical papers on deepwater riser evaluation and conceptual design; riser fatigue; offshore hydrodynamics and wellhead maintenance; and integrity management.

“Our long-term commitment to clients in Southeast Asia is deep and far-reaching,” Laura Claxton, Claxton managing director, said. “Having had considerable success in the region already, including well abandonment projects, drilling riser supply and offshore structures, we see the Singapore base as key to the future of our business. Nicholas will prove invaluable, as he brings a great mix of experience gained from within Claxton and the wider Acteon group to the new role.”

The company’s move in the region is part of a wider strategic move by the Acteon group to expand its presence in Southeast Asia – most recently with the announcement of a new multi-company base, the Acteon Singapore Service Centre, due to open in July.

Claxton has a long-standing reputation for supplying drilling risers, decommissioning services and offshore templates and structures. It operates in the North Sea from bases in Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth, U.K.; and Stavanger, Norway; in the Middle East from Dubai; and in the Far East from Singapore. Part of the Acteon Group’s wider risers, conductors and flowlines service area, Claxton has been supplying complete jackup drilling riser systems for over two decades.
