ClassNK Mr. Ueda Speech as IACS Chairman at CMA Shipping

March 23 (Tokyo) – ClassNK Chairman and President Noboru Ueda recently spoke at the CMA Shipping 2011 conference held in Stamford, Connecticut in the U.S. from 21 through 23 March 2011.  Mr. Ueda spoke as the Chairman of IACS on the topic of Achieving a Balance in Maritime Regulation: Environmental Regulations.  His talk reviewed current regulatory trends to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the contributions being made by IACS in this important area.

Mr. Ueda spoke during a conference session which also included presentations by the top people of the four industry organizations BIMCO, ICS, INTERTANKO, and InterManager.  During his presentation, Mr. Ueda stated that “ClassNK is also contributing to the improvement of safety at sea and the prevention of marine pollution through its involvement in the many activities of IACS aimed at addressing environmental issues.”

The Moderator of the conference expressed his deepest condolences to the victims of the recent natural disaster in Japan and his sincere appreciation to Mr. Ueda and his team for taking the time to attend the CMA Shipping event in spite of the extremely momentous challenges being faced in Japan.
