China Container Terminal Cargo Volumes Surge

Chongqing Container Terminal in Southwest China reports container volume up 29.7% to 166,000 teu in Q1 2013.

Import and export container volume climbed 29.7 per cent to 166,000 TEU. Laden boxes amounted to 124,000 TEU, an increase of 33.3 per cent.

Intermodal
Trade cargo via waterway increased 26.2 per cent to 3.07 million tonnes. 2.34 million tonnes were imports, up 28.1 per cent. Exports weighed in at 734,000 tonnes, up 20.7 per cent. Waterway import and export boxes were up 29.3 per cent to 119,000 TEU. Import boxes increased 17.1 per cent to 41,000 TEU. Export containers increased 36.8 per cent to 78,000 TEU.

Overall land trade shipments soared 156.9 per cent to 35,477 tonnes. Containers surged 420 per cent to 5,769 TEU. Import containers rocketed 740 per cent to 3,700 TEU. Export boxes surged 240 per cent to 2,069 TEU.
