Caterpillar Sponsors 2014 High Horsepower Summit

October 8, 2014

Caterpillar Inc. announced its sponsorship of the 2014 High Horsepower Summit (HHP) Summit,
now underway in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event is North America’s leading conference on the use of natural gas to fuel high horsepower operations. As an industry leader in the design and manufacture of dual-fuel and natural gas engines, Caterpillar plans to highlight its commitment to delivering the highest customer value for energy and power systems operations, as well as rail, marine and mining applications.

“We’re proud of where our natural gas heritage has brought us today and excited to lead the next wave of natural gas products and services taking shape in the industry,” said Caterpillar Vice President with responsibility for the Large Power Systems Division Tana Utley, who will present the keynote address at the Summit. “Cat® natural gas products integrate the latest innovative technology solutions with the performance customers expect and deserve, and are bringing cost savings to our customers’ operations across the globe – from our engines driving the world’s first natural gas powered barge in Hamburg, to our generator sets operating in North America’s largest natural gas power plant in Kansas.”

At the show, attendees will see examples of how Caterpillar customers are using the company’s Dynamic Gas Blending™ (DGB) dual fuel solution in oil & gas, rail and marine applications. Caterpillar product displays will include the 3512 DGB engine for oil and gas applications, the Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) 710 engine for locomotive and marine applications, MaK dual-fuel, medium speed engines for marine application and gas powered electric power products that feature the lowest owning and operating costs in the industry. HHP attendees will also hear about the company’s positive results with its products currently being tested in the field. EMD’s liquefied natural gas locomotive test units have incurred more than 5,000 test miles and achieved successful performance results while operating in North America this year.
