Bibby Offshore has been recognized for its commitment to staff and the development of its people with the Investment in People award at the 2014 Oil & Gas UK Awards, as announced last night, Thursday, November 6, at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center.

Bibby Offshore’s Competency and Training Manager Claire Duncan, said, “The award is excellent recognition of the hard work undertaken by the Competency and Training team, the HR team and the company as a whole. It shows our people that what they do really does count.

“People development contributes significantly towards achieving the company’s key business objectives and plays a huge role in defining company character. One of the company’s core values is to ‘realize the talent of our people’. This involves supporting personal and professional development for all our team, which in return creates positive business results.”

Last year the HR department surveyed staff and contractors on and offshore, to give an indication of trends, especially around the workforce’s feelings in relation to the Bibby Offshore Core Values and business objectives. The overall 88% positive response from the survey reflects that personnel believe Bibby Offshore is an employer of choice.

Bibby Offshore’s Chief Executive Howard Woodcock, said, “We are extremely proud to have won this award. The win demonstrates our commitment to people development and highlights a strong leadership culture. It is testament to the company’s achievements and the way it feels about its people.”

Woodcock continued, “Personally, I find it important for every member of our team to feel valued and understand the importance of their roles for the company’s continued success and for delivering the company’s vision. I believe that we are an example of a business that has grown through investing in people; a key part of our core values at Bibby Offshore. Our approach proves that goals can be achieved through empowering staff and employing excellent people.”

Earlier this year, Bibby Offshore won both the Commitment to People Development and the Outstanding Contribution to the Energy Sector awards at the 2014 Northern Star Business Awards, and the Subsea UK Company of the Year award. Bibby Offshore has grown from 10 employees in 2003 to now employ more than 1,450 people onshore and offshore worldwide, with offices in Aberdeen, Liverpool, Newcastle, Singapore, Houston, Norway and Trinidad. The company currently has an international fleet of seven subsea support vessels and 17 Remote operating Vehicles (ROV) and will continue to add to its fleet to meet demand.
