Dae Sun Bags Order for Eco-Design Boxship

June 8, 2015

South Korea’s Dae Sun Shipyard has won an order to construct one 1,800-teu feeder container vessel for compatriot ship-owner Dongjin Shipping.

The newbuilding feeder vessel is scheduled for delivery in early 2017.

The eco-friendly feeder-size container vessels will be designed for easy entry into the draft-restricted port of Bangkok in Thailand, according to Dae Sun Shipyard.

The draft-restricted port of Bangkok can only accommodate ships with a maximum length of 172 m and a draught of 8.2 m.

This is the second order secured by the shipyard in 2015 following an order in February from a Greek ship-owner. Cosmoship Management ordered up to six 1,800-teu containerships with four firm newbuildings plus two options.
