DnB NOR’s Asia Energy Team Adds Sekkat

Omar Sekkat has joined DnB NOR’s energy division at the bank’s Asian headquarters in Singapore. He comes to the role after transferring from DnB NOR in London. Mr Sekkat’s appointment as a Senior Vice President of the energy division at DnB NOR Asia takes immediate effect and his role is to contribute to the bank’s ongoing expansion in Asia Pacific within energy finance.
 

Omar Sekkat said today: “It is with great anticipation that I undertake this role and I look forward to working with my team to develop further the bank’s client base in Asia. From Oil & Gas to Power and Renewables, we definitely see the growth potential in Asia-Pacific and playing an increased role here within selected segments forms part of our international ambitions to become a leading global energy bank.”
 

Mr Sekkat has a strong track record stretching over several years at DnB NOR. He was previously Senior Vice President in Project Finance and prior to that Head of Global LNG Shipping, Offshore & Logistics. Having led transactions aggregating more than USD 8.5 billion, he is a familiar face to the bank’s clients as financial advisor and arranger of capital (including debt, ECAs and equity) and risk management solutions.

With Omar’s track record of dealing with clients at a very senior level on multi-national, cross-border projects, he is a significant addition to our staff strength in the Asia region.” Prior to joining DnB NOR in 2006, he worked as a Research Engineer and in several consultancy roles in Europe, the Middle East and Japan. Omar holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and a Specialist Masters Degree in Energy, Trade & Finance (with Distinction) from Cass Business School, a leading UK business school.
