AllCargo's Shashi Kiran Decorated by King of Belgium

February 14, 2015

Mr. Shashi Kiran Shetty, chairman of the Indian logistics multinational Allcargo Logistics, has been appointed Commander of the Order of Leopold II by King Phillip of Belgium. The honour was presented to Mr. Shetty by H.E. Jan Luykx, Belgian ambassador in New Delhi, at an official ceremony attended by Marc Van Peel and Eddy Bruyninckx, respectively port alderman and chairman of Antwerp Port Authority. Mr. Shetty was honoured for his efforts to promote trade relations between India and Belgium, as is evident in the port of Antwerp with the activities of Allcargo Logistics and Ecu-Line, the Belgian logistics company that he acquired in 2005. “We strongly admire the entrepeneurial spirit of the Avvashya Group, one of the first Indian companies to invest in the port of Antwerp,” said Eddy Bruyninckx, CEO of the Port of Antwerp.

Mr. Shetty began his career in the logistics industry in 1978, and in 1993 he set up the forwarding company Allcargo Logistics. Thanks in part to the acquisition of the Belgian Ecu-Line in 2005 the company has grown into a world player with 142 branches in 62 countries. The company is currently active in five continents and is known around the world as the second most important player in LCL (less than container load) groupage. Thanks to Shetty’s emphasis on quality, impeccable service and customer satisfaction, the company has an outstanding reputation on the market. Indeed in 2009 it won the prestigious “Logistics Company of the Year” Award.

The title of Commander of the Order of Leopold II is not the only recognition that Shetty has garnered. Previously he won the “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award from Ernst & Young and also the “Face of the Year” Award, part of the Express Logistics and Supply Chain Awards organised by the Economic Times & Future Group. His in-depth knowledge of the logistics sector and his strategic insight are considered by many to be his main professional hallmarks.
