Two Additions to LOC's Singapore Team

London Offshore Consultants (LOC), a leading global marine and engineering consultancy for the shipping and offshore energy industry, has boosted its presence in Singapore with two new appointments – Mark Board as Marine Consultant, and Dan Niklas Ahlgren as Naval Architect.

Mark joined LOC Singapore as Marine Consultant in September 2016. He brings with him experience in bulk carriers, roll on–roll off vessels, FSO’s and container ships. He also has an extensive experience at all ranks on board oil tankers, spending the bulk of his 23 years at sea in Aframax carriers, and sailed as Master in product tankers.

Since then, he has spent 18 years in shore management, and has led investigations on collisions, groundings, and worked closely with port authorities in oil spill response.

He is well versed in vetting, ship inspection, Flag State issues as well as ISM, and ISPS.

Mark is a trained auditor and Root Cause Analysis investigator.

Niklas joined LOC in September 2016 as a Naval Architect based in Singapore. Prior to joining LOC he worked for DNV GL (Noble Denton), where he was a Consultant since 2007. To date, he has gained 19 years of experience, taking on various roles – as a naval architect, project manager/engineer, consultant and marine warranty surveyor – in the maritime and, oil and gas industry.

He has been involved in a wide range of offshore and shipbuilding projects including new buildings and conversions. He also has significant consulting and engineering experience in heavy transportation and installations of various platforms and vessels.

Niklas has ship and construction yard work experience in concept development, engineering, design and production. He has also provided technical due diligence consultation and technical advisory work for various types of offshore and marine projects for financial institutions.

Niklas has an M.Sc. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology.
