Unifeeder Intros New Sweden-Poland Service

Sweden's Port of Gävle will be included on the rotation of the newly launched Unifeeder Sweden-Poland Service.According to Yilport Gavle, this is the first commercial feeder service ever to directly connect the Swedish east coast to Poland with a weekly service.The service will start from Gdansk and then call Gdynia, Gavle, Norrkoeping, and back to Gdansk. The first call is expected on August 12th.Yilport  Nordic Region General Manager Eryn Dinyovszky said: "We are very proud to announce that we can now connect directly to Poland from Gavle.

New COSCO Service Between UK, Europe, Russia

Chinese state-owned shipping and logistics services supplier company COSCO Shipping Lines announced a new COSCO feeder service from St Petersburg, Russia will begin calling at DP World Southampton."COSCO is to introduce a new weekly call at DP World Southampton, as part of a rotation including St Petersburg, Russia; Kotka, Finland; Southampton, UK; and Rotterdam, Netherlands," said a press release.The news comes after COSCO confirmed in February that DP World Southampton will be a permanent call on its feeder service.

PSA, Partners Jointly Acquire Gdańsk

Macquarie to Sell Gdansk Box Terminal

A consortium of investors including Poland's sovereign wealth fund PFR has agreed to buy the country's largest container terminal in Gdansk from the infrastructure fund of Australia's Macquarie in a deal worth more than 5 billion zlotys ($1.32 billion), the companies said on Tuesday.The container terminal had a capacity of 1.9 million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in 2018.Macquarie launched a sale of the terminal, which sources said in December could be valued at around 1.5 billion euros ($1.7 billion), last year with the help of Goldman Sachs.Reporting by Alan Charlish

Jumbo Lifts, Ships Two Ship Unloaders

The heavy lift shipping and offshore transportation & installation contractor Jumbo Maritime has recently completed two shipments of two giant ship unloaders from Gdynia Port, Poland to Djen Djen Port in Algeria for Fagioli.The ship unloaders are intended for unloading bulk cargo from vessels on the quayside.The first lift and shipment was made last December 2018. The MV Fairmaster and her crew lifted the 1400t, 60 metres high ship unloader. The team then sailed through Egersund and Rotterdam before arriving in Algeria for discharging in Djen Djen.The second shipment was made in February 2019.

Maersk Offers Street Turn Services in the US, Canada

Avantida, an E2Open company, has announced that Maersk, has started to offer street turn services on their platform in the United States and Canada. This represents Avantida’s first step into the US and Canadian markets.Empty container triangulation, or the interchange of an intermodal container outside of a marine terminal or yard (street turns), is a well-known activity in the US. By offering this on Avantida’s online platform, transporter and logistics companies are freed from the administrative hassle of having to request and process street turns manually.

Polskie LNG Commences Bid for Terminal

Polskie LNG, the owner and operator of the Swinoujscie, Poland LNG terminal has published the contract notice that officially commences the tender procedure with the view to select the contractor for the terminal expansion.Polskie LNG officially informed about launching the tender procedure to select the contractor of the fourth project under the LNG Terminal Expansion Program, i.e. the construction of an additional jetty.The project is implemented in cooperation with the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority.

Polish Fairway Dredging Contract Awarded

A major modernization contract for the deepening and widening of a 62 km section of the Świnoujście – Szczecin fairway in Poland has been awarded to Van Oord and DEME Group subsidiary Dredging International.The investment by the Maritime Office in Szczecin will improve access to the Szczecin seaport and increase the port capacity to handle a growing volume of cargo.The project is a design and build contract to deepen and widen the fairway along a section of approximately 62 km from -10.5 to -12.5 m. The dredged materials will be used to build two artificial islands in the Szczecin lagoon.

Wallem Supports Polish Tall Ship’s Call to Hong Kong

Wallem Ship Agency was appointed to handle the recent call of the full-rigged Polish tall ship, the S.V. Dar Młodzieży to Hong Kong.The tall ship arrived in Hong Kong on October 26, 2018 and was berthed at China Merchants Wharf until 29th October.
