Ellicott Dredges celebrates 1,000 day safety record and 130 years of business

The employees of Ellicott Dredges LLC in Baltimore had two reasons for celebration this week, the company announced.

First, Ellicott's Baltimore plant recorded a safety milestone of 1,000 consecutive working days without a lost time accident.

In addition to this achievement, Ellicott is celebrating its 130th year of business. Founded in 1885, Ellicott first gained global recognition in the dredge business by building all the dredges used in the original construction of the Panama Canal. Ellicott claims a position as the oldest player among dredge builders and as the largest builder of portable cutter dredges.
