The U.S. Coast Guard Academy listed as a top institution of higher education by U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review & Forbes Magazine.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings provide one of the most thorough examinations of how more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools in the U.S. compare in a set of widely-accepted indicators of excellence.

This year, the academy was ranked #2 in the Regional Colleges (North) category in the Best Colleges 2013 guidebook as well as 10th in the Best in Undergraduate Engineering Programs category.

The indicators U.S. News & World Report uses to capture academic quality fall into a number of categories: assessment by administrators at peer institutions, retention of students, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving. The indicators also include input measures that reflect a school’s student body, its faculty and its financial resources, along with outcome measures that signal how well the institution does its job of educating students.

The Princeton Review’s Best 377 Colleges also ranked the academy in the top 10 for the following categories: Most Accessible Professors, Best Run Colleges, Stone-Cold Sober Schools and as one of the Best Northeastern Colleges while Forbes Magazine placed the academy in the top 27% out of 650 schools nationwide.

On top of it’s ranked academic quality and student life assets, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy offers a quality higher education experience that emphasizes leadership, physical fitness and professional development and culminates in a guaranteed job upon graduation as an officer in the United States Coast Guard.
