An ardent supporter of the nation’s waterways, Congressman Whitfield is the original sponsor of “Waterways are Vital for the Economy, Energy, Efficiency, and Environment Act” of 2013 (WAVE 4), H.R. 1149, with 31 bipartisan cosponsors.

“Waterways Council is so fortunate to have the opportunity to honor two great waterways advocates this year and to thank them publicly for their passion and commitment to America’s critical waterways infrastructure and to jobs,” said Michael J. Toohey, President/CEO of Waterways Council, Inc. “WCI’s Leadership Service Award has long recognized great American champions of our country’s critically important waterways and port system. Senator Casey and Congressman Whitfield will stand among them this year,” he continued.
