SS United States Conservancy and National Theatre to Present: Author Steven Ujifusa on his Latest Book "A Man and His Ship: America's Greatest Naval Architect and His Quest to Build the SS United States"

The National Theatre, in collaboration with the SS United States Conservancy, is pleased to present author Steven Ujifusa speaking on his fascinating debut biography A MAN AND HIS SHIP: America’s Greatest Naval Architect and His Quest to Build the S.S. United States on Wednesday, September 12 at 6:30 PM.  The book chronicles the efforts of William Francis Gibbs to build America's Flagship, the SS United States.

The United States, still the fastest and safest passenger liner ever built has recently earned national attention again for the recently-launched Save the United States Campaign (www.SavetheUnitedStates.org) to restore and repurpose this irreplaceable piece of American history. Conservancy Executive Director Susan Gibbs, granddaughter of the ship's architect will introduce Ujifusa at the event.

Mr. Ujifusa will discuss and sign copies of his book in the intimate Helen Hayes Gallery of the National Theatre, located at 1321 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW in Washington, DC.  Admission is free; seating is limited. Tickets are required and distributed 30 minutes prior to the discussion – one ticket per person in line – on a first-come, first-served basis.

Information on the event may be obtained by visiting the National Theatre web site at www.nationaltheatre.org and clicking on the book cover logo, or by calling the National Theatre Community Outreach Information Line at (202) 783-3372.  Copies of the book will be available for purchase on the evening of the event.
