NORDEN Publishes CSR Report

Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S has published its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report 2014. Entitled, “On track”, the CSR report presents an overview of NORDEN’s CSR strategy, performance, achievements and future goals. 
 
This is the second year of the CSR strategy “On the right course” and NORDEN is on track.
 
“We have reached the majority of the targets which we have set. For those areas where we have not reached our targets, we have identified the causes and will use the lessons learned to better help us reach our future goals,” said Michael Tønnes Jørgensen, CFO and chairman of the CSR Executive Body
 
The main CSR focus area for NORDEN in 2014 has been anticorruption, the company said.
 
“We have developed an Anticorruption Compliance Program, which provides a framework for our work within anticorruption. It also provides our employees with tools and procedures to guide them in their daily work,” Michael Tønnes Jørgensen said. “NORDEN has, as part of industry collaboration, been instrumental in developing anticorruption training for senior management, captains and operators for the Maritime Anticorruption Network (MACN) and its members. The training was made available for all the members in September and has been launched by NORDEN within our organization for the senior management, captains and operators.” 
 
During the year, NORDEN was rewarded with a position on the A List in the Carbon Disclosure Project’s (CDP) Climate Performance Leadership Index. This is the highest category that a company can achieve, and it shows that NORDEN has gone from “beyond transparency” to “excellent performance”, NORDEN noted.
 
“2015 will be another exciting year within CSR for NORDEN, where we will focus on three main CSR activities,” Michael Tønnes Jørgensen said. “The first one is to develop tailor-made anticorruption training for the rest of our employees. By the end of 2015 all employees will have undergone anticorruption training. The second activity is to complete NORDEN’s human rights impact assessments as required by the UN Guiding Principles. The third and last activity is the development of a new CSR strategy for the period 2016 to 2018.”
