The Supervisory Board of Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) has appointed Ingo Egloff, a member of the Hamburg City Parliament and the Bundestag for many years, as a HHM Executive Board Member. Egloff, who was a member of the Bundestag Commission for Economy and Technology for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and spokesman for his parliamentary group for the maritime economy, will take his new office on January 1, 2014. Together with Axel Mattern, he will constitute the Executive Board of HHM. This decision was preceded by an intensive selection process.

Thomas Lütje, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Port of Hamburg Marketing, welcomes the decision, “In Ingo Egloff, we have succeeded in finding a distinguished expert on the maritime economy as a new member of the Executive Board of Port of Hamburg Marketing. He has widely acknowledged expertise in many and various fields of the maritime economy and has an extremely good network of connections in associations, companies, the administration and political circles. He will be able to contribute both of these qualities for the benefit of the Port of Hamburg and the member companies from the metropolitan region and the hinterland. The Port of Hamburg needs a strong presence in the markets. Ingo Egloff has everything it takes to carry out successful marketing activities for the port both in Germany and abroad. With Axel Mattern and Ingo Egloff, Port of Hamburg Marketing can rely on a high-profile executive leadership team.”

Until the federal election in autumn of 2013, Ingo Egloff was a member of the Bundestag, the lower house of Germany’s parliament. As spokesman for his parliamentary group for the maritime economy, amongst other things he was responsible for drawing up general motions to do with the maritime economy. Together with his colleague from Bremen, Uwe Beckmeyer, he headed the workgroup “Maritime Shipping, Ship Financing, Shipyards, Offshore” and attended the national maritime conferences. Prior to that, Egloff was a member of the Hamburg City Parliament for almost ten years. Egloff, a lawyer by training, was Chairman of the Economic Commission in Hamburg and economic policy spokesman of the SPD parliamentary group. From 2007 to 2009, Egloff was the Chairman of the SPD for Hamburg.
