The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that at the 36th Annual Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard, which was held in New York City October 6th, President Anne B. Brengle was recognized with the Coast Guard Distinguished Public Service Award.

The award was read by Coast Guard Foundation vice-chairman of the Board of Trustees, RADM James Van Sice, USCG (Ret.) and was presented by Admiral Paul Zukunft, commandant and Admiral Charles Michel, vice commandant. This Award is one of the highest public recognitions that the commandant may give to civilians.

The Award was presented to Brengle in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Service. Throughout her nine-year tenure, Brengle displayed compassionate leadership, strategic foresight, and executive acumen that inspired marked improvements in quality of life and mission effectiveness for Coast Guard members and their families around the world.

Brengle’s exceptional professionalism, leadership, and devotion to the men and women of the Service are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard.

“I have been fortunate enough to be a part of a devoted team whose driving mission has been to provide assistance to the brave men and women of the Coast Guard,” said Anne Brengle, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “These service members are selfless and professional in the execution of their duties and we at the Foundation honor that proud heritage. It is humbling to accept this award and I thank the Commandant, Vice Commandant and all the members of the Coast Guard, past and present, for their service.”
