Tajikistan to Expand Multimodal Shipping

The 14th Meeting of the Railway Leaders of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the 8th Meeting of the Railway Committee of the Transport Coordination Council of the ECO (TTCC) was held in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan.

The meeting discussed various cooperation issues in the field of multi-modal shipping, including transit cargoes by sea transport.

The event was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Islamic Republic of Iran, People Republic of China, Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Intergovernmental Organization for International Freight Transport (EIF), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and the Trade and Development Bank of the Organization for Economic Cooperation (ECO-TDB).

The event, which lasted two days, was represented by Niyamaddin Aslanov, staff member of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO).

Within the framework of the event, a bilateral meeting between Niyamaddin Aslanov and Mirzoali Komil, head of the Railway Company of Tajikistan took place by the initiative of the latter.

The sides exchanged views on further cooperation between ASCO and Tajikistan Railways. Transportation of exported and imported goods with the ASCO ferry vessels from the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kurik-Alat-Kurik direction was discussed.

Mirzoali Komil said that the meeting has been fruitful and that the discussions would be important for expanding ties between companies.
