Statoil Exercises Ocean Installer Option at Vigdis

Ocean Installer will undertake flexible jumper replacement operations for Norwegian operator Statoil at the Vigdis field, says a statement from the company. Ocean Installer will see it perform subsea work.
The company said the option falls under an amendment to the previously awarded SMLP Marine Installation contract which was signed in December last year and covered riser replacement operations at the Troll C field.
The SLMP amendment was signed in December 2015 and covers the replacement of a flexible jumper at the Vigdis field as well as project management, engineering and marine operations.
Ocean Installer CEO Steinar Riise said in a company statement: “We are happy to see that Statoil continues to make use of options inherent to existing contracts, further strengthening our cooperation. In the current market this type of work is important to maintain a steady activity level and it proves that an unwavering focus on delivering in existing projects pays off.”
Ocean Installer said it will utilise its state of the art construction support vessel (CSV), Normand Vision, for the operations. The offshore operations will take place in Q2 and Q3 2017.
Project preparations started in February and offshore work will take place in June, according to an Ocean Installer statement.
Vigdis is located in block 34/7 in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea and came on stream in 1997. Water depth is approximately 919 feet (280m).
