Shin-Nippon Kaiyosha Starts Operations

Japanese shipping giant Nippon Yusen (NYK Line) announced that its two subsidiaries Wing Maritime Service Corporation and Kaiyo Kogyo Corporation that provide harbor tugboat and other related services, merged today to form Shin-Nippon Kaiyosha Corporation.

The 100percent NYK owned Shin-Nippon Kaiyosha Corporation officially began operations yesterday (July 1, 2019), said the statement.

Shin-Nippon president Yukihiro Tatara said: “Wing Maritime Service Corporation has mainly provided tugboat services and escort services in the Yokohama, Kawasaki, and Chiba areas. And Kaiyo Kogyo Corporation has provided tugboat services for steel companies, electric power companies, and shipyards in Tokyo Bay, as well as tugboat services outside the bay, escort boat services, and support services for marine resources development projects."

He added: "To be able to properly respond to customers’ various needs more quickly, we will integrate the management resources of the two companies and use the talented employee base to make efforts for enhancements."

The statement said: "To increase efficiencies and create value in accordance with its medium-term management plan “Staying Ahead 2022 with Digitalization and Green,” the NYK Group will continue to strive to fully employ its synergy for sustainable growth."
