National Ocean Industries Association President Randall Luthi issued the following statement on the nomination of Janice Schneider to be the next DOI Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management:

“It is the prerogative of the President and Secretary to nominate whomever they choose, but there are many unanswered questions about how Janice Schneider will regulate the offshore energy industry. We look forward to learning more about her during the Senate confirmation process."

He added, “That being said, many of our members are disappointed that Tommy Beaudreau was not nominated.  He came to the Department of the Interior during a difficult time, but over the last two years he earned the reputation for being willing to listen and learn about industry concerns.  I wish him the very best as he returns his full attention to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. His knowledge and experience will be a great asset to the new Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management.”
