New LEDs Light Up Port of Cristóbal

New high efficacy LED flood lights have been installed at the Port of Cristóbal in Colon, Panama.

SONARAY, a central Virginia-based manufacturer of industrial, commercial and maritime LED lighting fixtures, has supplied 60 of its 520-watt Delta Flood Lights, installed at “the mole,” a moniker used to describe an area of the port.
Jose Diaz, LAT sales manager for SONARAY, said, “The port was most impressed with the rugged design of our flood lights and the fact that the 520-watt model is rated to produce nearly 60,000 lumens of light output. Ruggedness, long-life, and high output were the three most important attributes the port required. The FL-3520 met all of those requirements and provided a cost-effective solution since the LED lighting will not only be brighter and last longer, but use much less energy.”
The FL-3520 Delta Flood Lights carry an IP65 rating so they are built to withstand salt spray and other elements that are part of the shipping environment, according to the manufacturer.
Ken Bryant, director of marketing for SONARAY said the installation is indicative of the types of rugged environments where the company’s products excel. “The Port of Cristóbal is one of the Caribbean regions most vital and busy commercial ports. With a handling capacity of some 2 million TEUs, this port, while one of Panama’s oldest, remains a very important and strategic gateway for commerce. By providing excellent lighting we feel confident that we can not only enhance the safety and efficiency for the port, but also save the operators money on energy as they carry out the important logistics tasks of moving freight throughout LAT and the Americas regions.”
Dingo, S.A., an electrical supplier for the LAT geography worked with SONARAY on the sale and installation of the fixtures.
