Singapore's offshore services provider Sembcorp Marine has won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth over USD1 billion for the Culzean field development project in the North Sea.

Sembcorp Marine subsidiary SMOE construction contract  will cover the topsides for the central processing facility, wellhead platform and utilities and living quarter platform, and two connecting bridges.
The facility will installed in the UK sector of the Central North Sea. The three-platform complex will be installed in 90 m (295 ft) of water.
SMOE’s Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard in Singapore will handled the bulk of the fabrication, with Sembmarine SLP in Lowestoft, eastern England, handling a power generation module, the two bridges and a flare.
Sembcorp Marine’s Executive Vice President and Head of Offshore Platforms Ho Nee Sin said: “We are pleased to secure this mega contract despite stiff competition from world class yards. This is another prestigious North Sea project undertaken by the company where we will work closely with our UK subsidiary Sembmarine SLP as a team.”
The Culzean gas field is expected to be capable of providing around 5% of the UK’s total gas consumption by 2020/21.
