The Coast Guard, Trenton Fire Dept. and New Jersey State Police Dept. are searching Saturday for a missing jet skier near the Trenton boat ramp.

Missing is Jesus Diaz Melendez, 26, of Trenton, New Jersey.

The crew of the vessel A.J. Meerwald came upon a jet skier who stated he and Melendez ran aground on the jet ski, which ejected both of them. Melendez couldn't be located after the incident.

At 7:07 p.m., the crew of the A.J. Meerwald contacted Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay and reported Melendez missing.

Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders launched a Station Philadelphia 29-foot response boat crew and an Air Station Atlantic City MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to respond. The boat crew picked up the jet skier who confirmed his friend was ejected from the jet ski.

If anyone knows or has seen Mr. Melendez, or has any additional information that may assist the search effort, they are asked to contact the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay command center at 215-271-4940

215-271-4940 FREE or on VHF-FM marine radio channel 16.
