Funding used to upgrade aging server, computers
Thanks to a donation from global ship vetting specialist RightShip, Seafarers’ House has been able to replace its aging server and four computers – all of which are critical to the nonprofit’s communications.
After hearing about Seafarers’ House mission and the support it has provided to the maritime community, Captain Anuj Chopra, Vice President (Americas), RightShip Pty Ltd., came to the rescue with the $7,220 grant. The money has been used to purchase a single server along with installation and four new computers.
Seafarers’ House said it has struggled for several years with regular server outages and other technological challenges that come with working with older technology.
“This grant is a true blessing for which we are very grateful,” said Seafarers’ House Executive Director Lesley Warrick. “RightShip’s support of our mission is immeasurably meaningful to us and will help us to continue to better serve the more than 150,000 mariners each year who rely on our assistance.”
On behalf of RightShip, Captain Chopra was pleased to be able to assist Seafarers’ House, “Our day-to-day work focuses on the safety and sustainability of our ships, bringing the seafarers and the goods they are transporting safely into harbor. We are delighted that our contribution to Seafarers’ House will help take this a step further, supporting and connecting these sailors with family and friends when they are far from home.”
