Rear Admiral Bennett “Bud” Sparks Award for USCG Sector Jacksonville

Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville was awarded the Category Two 2015 Rear Admiral Bennett “Bud” Sparks award by the Reserve Officers Association, June 7.

The award will be presented at the 2016 Reserve Officers Association National Symposium in Reno, Nevada, Sept. 12.
The Sparks award is named in honor of Rear Admiral Bennett "Bud" Sparks who served in the Coast Guard Reserve from 1942 to 1989. It is presented annually by the ROA to recognize the successful integration of reserve and active duty workforces to achieve overall readiness.

"Our reserve program has never been more critical to the Coast Guard than it is today," said Capt. Jeff Dixon, Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville commander. “The sector commander and active duty personnel of Sector Jacksonville are fully invested in the reserve program and always on the lookout for avenues of improvement.”

Sector Jacksonville’s 190-member reserve force demonstrated the highest levels of integration in their response and prevention operations and ensured that reservist’s training and competency attainment aligned with the Coast Guard’s strategic priorities.
