The Passenger Vessel Association (PVA) elected Dave Anderson of Fire Island Ferries, Inc. as the 2015 PVA President during the group's annual convention in Long Beach, CA, the PVA announced today. The group also elected Margo Marks of Beaver Island Boat Company in Charlevoix, MI as Vice President, and Jeff Whitaker of Hudson River Cruises, Inc in Kingston, NY as Secretary-Treasurer.
Jim DeSimone, Alison Nolan, Coleen Stephens and Jim Swindler were elected to the PVA Board of Directors.
Dave Anderson is General Manager/Director of Operations for Fire Island Ferries, located in Bay Shore on Long Island. The company has provided passenger service, freight service, and water taxi service to Fire Island communities since 1948 and has been an active member of the PVA since the association's inception.
Anderson, last year's Vice President and a former chairman of the PVA Safety and Security Committee, holds a 100 ton Masters license and serves on the Coast Guard's Sector Long Island Sound Area Maritime Security Committee, Harbor Safety Committee, FSO and CSO Security Committee, and the Committee for the Sector's Maritime Transportation System and Recovery Plan.
