Oceanex Inc. was named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies Gold Standard Members in 2014. This national award is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post, Queen’s School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums, and recognizes Canadian owned and managed companies with revenues over $10 million for sustained growth, financial performance, management practices and efforts of the entire organization.

“I would like to congratulate Oceanex Inc. and its entire workforce. Achieving this standard of excellence takes a united effort from a dedicated team,” said Peter Brown, National Co-Leader of Canada’s Best Managed Companies Program and Senior Practice Partner, Deloitte.

The 2014 winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies award, along with the Gold Standard winners, Requalified and Platinum Club members were honored at the annual Best Managed gala in Toronto on March 31, 2015. On the same date, the Best Managed symposium addressed leading-edge business issues.

Oceanex is a privately owned provider of shipping and trucking services to Newfoundland and Labrador from anywhere in North America. Oceanex recently introduced a custom designed, 210-meter ice-class Con/Ro vessel, the Oceanex Connaigra, to its fleet. It is the largest Canadian-flagged ConRo ship in Canada.

“I am indeed very proud of our team of experienced and knowledgeable employees,” said Oceanex Executive Chairman, Captain Sid Hynes. “Achieving the Gold Standard of this award is truly a testament to their efforts."

Canada's Best Managed Companies program was launched  in 1993. Since then hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices.
