The A.P. Moller – Maersk Group today announced the appointment of Nicolaj Noes as the new Maersk Line Country Manager for Australia. Nicolaj will be responsible for the development and execution of strategy in Australia, overseeing sales, operations and customer service. The 39-year-old is scheduled to assume his new role from August 2, 2010 in Sydney, Australia. He reports directly to Jesper Praestensgaard, Chief Executive for Maersk Line Asia Pacific.

“We are very pleased to have Nicolaj join our team. His vast industry knowledge, deep insights into the Oceania trade and long-standing shipping experience makes him a strong asset to Maersk Line and our customers. I am confident he has the leadership qualities, business acumen and creativity needed to further build on our strengths in Australia,” said Jesper.

Since 2006, Nicolaj has been Route Director for the Oceania trade, part of the Network and Product team based in Maersk Line’s headquarters in Copenhagen. In this capacity, Nicolaj was instrumental in helping Oceania services deliver an impressive improvement in its 2009 financial result. Nicolaj brings with him pan-global experience from the UK, US and China, where he previously held various leadership roles.

In heading up the container shipping business in Australia, Nicolaj succeeds Soren Houman, who will relocate back to Denmark to take up a new position within the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group.
