Iranian, Algerian Ports Sign MoU

A delegation of Algerian Ministry of Transport executives visiting Iran's Imam Khomeini Port Special Economic Zone explored the development of port and maritime between the port of Imam Khomeini and the ports of Algeria.

Adel Deris, Director General of Khuzestan Ports and Maritime, referring to Algerian delegation's two-day visit to Imam Khomeini Port Complex and other Ports in Khuzestan Province in Iran, said: "During this visit, the officials of Algeria's Ministry of Transport visited Khuzestan Port Facilities and Achievements, and the areas of greater co-operation in fields such as fighting against pollution, unloading and loading of ships and private sector participation in the development were discussed."

Deris added that the sisterhood agreement between the port of Imam Khomeini and the port of Béjaïa in Algeria initiates the move towards further development of technical cooperation in the field of port and maritime activities.

Meanwhile, the representatives of the Béjaïa port said the development of cooperation between the ports of the two countries, adding that maritime transport, transfer of technical experience and ultimately increasing the level and volume of commercial exchanges are important capabilities that can be focused for the adoption of sisterhood between Imam Khomeini port and Béjaïa port .

Béjaïa Port Manager expressed hope that through the visits to Iranian ports and port facilities and capabilities will be recognized, followed by increased trade and joint technical and educational cooperation.

During the Fifth Joint Meeting on Port and Maritime Cooperation between Iran and Algeria in Imam Khomeini Port (RAH), following the visit of a delegation of Algerian Ministry of Transport executives to the Imam Khomeini Port Special Economic Zone capabilities, An MoU on expansion of technical, specialized and educational cooperation was signed between the port of Imam Khomeini (RA) and Béjaïa.
