Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) has managed to create two companies in Europe in joint collaboration with foreign companies, says Mohammad Saeidi IRISL managing director.
He didn't provide the details of establishment of the two Iran-Europe shipping companies, but said that the companies have already started cooperation schemes with their European partners.
Saeidi emphasized that the same cooperation schemes are expected to facilitate the shipping services between Iran and Europe.
He also said that Iran plans to establish several new shipping lines within the next six months. They, he added, include two separate lines to North America and South America and another to East Asia.
“In new conditions, we commute to ports around the world without limitation carrying exported and imported products,” he said.
“Following the JCPOA-implementation, we have achieved great accomplishments inking contracts with large shipbuilding companies while it would take at least two years before the first ship joint the Iranian fleet of maritime transport,” he highlighted.
The Azargoun, which belongs to the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines and can carry 2,500 standard shipping containers, arrived in Hamburg last week.
It marked the reopening of the European Container Line between Iran and Europe, which was suspended in 2010 due to sanctions imposed by the U.S. and Europe.
IRISL has also relaunched a conventional breakbulk service between the two regions, partly because it needs multipurpose vessels to fulfil the capital equipment-intensive nature of its import requirements.
