Houlder Recruits Walker for Marine Assurance Business

Marine consultancy and engineering provider, Houlder has announced the recruitment of Neil Walker to develop a Marine Assurance Services business.


Walker was previously Europe Regional Manager for Global Maritime Consultancy Ltd. His experience covers key areas such as Marine Installation and Warranty Services, Expert Witness, Naval Architecture and Design Consultancy. His expertise includes platform installation and decommissioning, mooring and riser analyzes and tanker-based systems.


Rupert Hare, Chief Executive Officer commented; “As a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of RINA and a Founding Director of the Society of Offshore Marine Warranty Surveyors, Neil is ideally placed to lead the delivery of independent third-party technical review and approval of major shipbuilding and offshore construction projects. Houlder’s new Marine Assurance Service will allow clients to make informed decisions based on sound technical and operational advice.


Operating out of the City of London with a global reach, Walker adds significant capacity and capability to Houlder’s growing reputation as a wholly independent provider of technical advice. Known for its team members high levels of competence and deep knowledge of Class Rules and regulations, Houlder is now involved in many of the UK major shipbuilding projects. Recent examples include high-profile projects such as the new Royal Research Ship (RRS) Sir David Attenborough, CMAL’s MV Glen Sannox LNG Dual Fuel Ferry and Wightlink’s new G Class Ferry. It is also providing a range of advisory services to the UK Ministry of Defence’s current new build programs.
