Faststream today named Chad Fuhrmann the recipient of its inaugural Scholarship for Leadership Excellence. The scholarship, valued at $9,500, will afford Fuhrmann the opportunity to attend a continuing education program hosted by Louisiana State University’s E.J. Ourso College of Business Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute.

Fuhrmann is the business director for the Americas at Maritime Assurance and Consulting, Ltd. (MAC), where he is responsible for all U.S. operations. He previously held leadership roles at DNV GL, GL Noble Denton, and Oceaneering International. Fuhrmann has nearly 20 years of experience in the marine industry and was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy Individual Ready Reserve.

Eric Peters, managing director, Americas, Faststream Recruitment Group, said, “Chad’s impressive employment history and qualifications combined with his unique position developing MAC’s global footprint in the marine industry made him the ideal candidate for this opportunity, as we know his knowledge and skills are in very high demand across the industry.”

“It’s an honor to receive this scholarship from Faststream, a company highly respected for its work in the industry,” Fuhrmann said. “I’ve always had a strong desire to learn and excel in my field, and I am grateful for the opportunity to do so through LSU’s prestigious program. I will use the information learned to further develop my skills, improve the market position of MAC Ltd., as well as to better serve my clients and assist in the progressive development of the marine industry as a whole.”

Fuhrmann earned undergraduate degrees from New Mexico Military Institute and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, where he also earned his master’s degree in marine engineering. He is a member of the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee, the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, the Marine Technological Society and the International Association of Marine Investigators.
