Eastern Navigation Pte Ltd is taking delivery of two more vessels in 2010 to add to its existing fleet of over 40 tugs, barges, anchor handling tugs and supply vessels.
The first vessel, to be delivered in mid May, will be a 330 ft by 100 ft ballast tank barge with a deck strength of 20t/m2, built by a leading Chinese shipyard. The second vessel to be delivered is the 5000 bhp Anchor handling tug ENA Garuda, built in Eastern Navigation’s own yard in Singapore.
Most 5000 bhp anchor handling tugs in this region are built with a Gross Tonnage of just under 500 tons to avoid certain IMO convention requirements. However, due to feedback from existing clients, the ENA Garuda was designed and built with a larger hull and wider breadth, having an estimated Gross Tonnage of 900 tons. This ensures the vessel has added stability, and gives her the ability to work and run anchors in more grueling sea and weather conditions. ENA Garuda’s expected completion will be around the third quarter of 2010, and is already receiving a vast amount of interest from potential charterers.
Eastern Navigation will reach its 50th year since incorporation in 2010. The company plans to mark this milestone by putting pen to paper for an order of a 300 man accommodation barge, fully equipped with a 300 ton crane. The accommodation barge is expected to be completed in around the end of 2011.
