The Coast Guard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that more than $1 million was raised at the 35th Annual Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard Thursday night in New York. The event was attended by more than 500.
Of the $1 million raised, $250,000 will be allocated to the foundation’s scholarship program, which helps make college dreams a reality for the children of enlisted Coast Guard members.
“The Coast Guard’s motto is ‘Semper Paratus’ or ‘Always Ready’,” said Anne Brengle, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “We embrace that motto in everything that we do including our scholarship program. It is our goal to always be ready to help any enlisted Coast Guard member’s child get a college education. With the help of the generous donations we received last night, we continue to make that goal a reality.”
