The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, has announced that its 2017 Guardian Award will be presented to ConocoPhillips, a Houston-based oil and natural gas producing company, at the Foundation’s Tribute to the Coast Guard event on May 24 in Houston.

The Coast Guard Foundation’s Guardian Award recognizes individuals, companies and organizations that have provided significant support or have demonstrated exemplary commitment to the Coast Guard Foundation, U.S. Coast Guard personnel and families, or to other service members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Given just once a year, the Coast Guard Foundation Guardian Award is the Foundation’s premier national recognition.

For more than 20 years, ConocoPhillips has been a leading advocate of the Coast Guard Foundation’s most important strategic initiatives. ConocoPhillips’ support has been critical for the Foundation’s education, morale and relief programs. The company has supported the Coast Guard Foundation’s Scholarship Fund which provides college scholarships to Coast Guard children; as well as provided significant contributions to the Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund, which gave three full scholarships in 2016 to children who lost a parent in the line of duty.

“It is so rare to find those who align themselves toward a common good like the people of ConocoPhillips do daily,” said Susan Ludwig, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “We are grateful for their long-standing and steadfast commitment to the Coast Guard Foundation and the dedication of the entire organization to our efforts to support the Coast Guard and its members.”
