Clean Marinas Names New President

The Clean Marinas Program, the only privately administered program dedicated to maintaining environmentally sensitive marina and yachting facilities in the United States, has named Henderson, Nev. resident Rod Taylor president of its board of directors.

He is the first Nevada resident to lead the organization, which began in California in 2004. Currently, Taylor is regional vice president of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Forever Resorts, which operates more than 40 U.S. resorts and attractions in the nation’s most scenic outdoor recreation areas, including several in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

 

An affinity for boating has anchored Taylor in the marine industry for more than 30 years. He began his career at Lake Shasta in Northern California in 1980. In 2001, Taylor earned the designation of Certified Marina Manager form the International Marina Institute, having accumulated substantial experience in all aspects of marina management and construction, exclusively in freshwater locations. Working at Forever Resorts since 1995, Taylor manages multiple marina and resort properties including Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina, Willow Beach Marina, Lake of the Ozarks Marina and Lake of the Ozarks State Park Marinas Involved in business development, project planning and oversight, Taylor has led numerous projects in marina construction and restoration. He regularly works in partnership with agencies of the U.S. Departments of Interior, Agriculture and Defense, as well as with state agencies for the development of public services in areas of marina and resort businesses. Most recently, he collaborated with the United States Green Building Council to complete the first LEED certified floating building at Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina at Lake Mohave in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. In addition, Taylor is a member of the National Safe Boating Council, the International Marina Institute and the Marina Operators Association of America.
