The International Marina Institute (IMI), the training subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), awarded certifications to three marina professionals as Certified Marina Managers (CMM) and three marina professionals as a Certified Marina Operator (CMO) at the AMI-produced 2016 International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC) in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on January 28. The CMM and CMO designations recognize and distinguish the most highly qualified marina managers and operators throughout the world.

IMI’s newest CMMs include David Bird of Quayside Marina (Vancouver, B.C.), Paul Gauthier of Coburg Marina (Coburg, ON), and Tom Lawson of Titusville Marina (Titusville, Fla.). IMI’s newest CMOs are: Brian Kaloper of Elliot Bay Marina (Seattle, Wash.), Patrick Kenney of Aqualand Marina (Flowery Branch, Ga.), and Jake Rowe of Pelican Isle Yacht Club (Naples, Fla.).
With these newest awardees, there are currently 335 CMMs and 17 CMOs worldwide. In addition to marina management experience, CMM/CMO candidates must complete Intermediate and Advanced Marina Management courses available through IMI. The next-offered AMI Advanced Marina Management course is on February 28– March 4, 2016 in Charleston, S.C. and its next Intermediate Marina Management course is scheduled for November 13-17, 2016 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
