Staff at Carnival UK’s headquarters in Southampton came to work dressed for the occasion in response to Seafarers UK’s appeal to “get stripey” and raise funds for seafarers in need. Ahead of the charity’s official Get Stripey day on May 16, Carnival UK employees wore striped clothes and made generous donations.

“There’s less than a week to go until our Get Stripey day and we really hope that staff at all levels and in any role will be getting involved, as little or as much as they can,” said Nigel Shattock, Director of Fundraising & Communications at Seafarers UK. “People can come to work dressed in a smart stripey top, a pair of stripey socks or perhaps a very loud stripey skirt or tie. They might want to just paint stripes on their nails, or make more effort and even bake something stripey to sell. Basically anything stripey goes.”

Seafarers UK is calling on all maritime businesses to “get stripey” on May 16. All money raised will go to support seafarers in need and their families. Last year Seafarers UK supported 84 charities and organizations with £2.5 million in funding, which in turn helped more than 150,000 people.
